Project Overview:
Wellbeing helps new mothers take care of themselves and their babies. The initiative behind this app is to make new mothers aware of their health with their new responsibilities. It is necessary to take care of their mental health and emotional health, too. For this project, I had adopted the mobile-first approach and then designed responsive screens for different sizes.
My role and responsibilities:
I was responsible for designing an Impression website from conception to delivery with the tasks like Ux research, Empathize, Ideation, Usability studies, Wireframing, design of high fidelity, Prototyping, and accountability for accessibility.
The problem:
Society is not aware of the mental health of new mothers and the problems they are facing. Generally, we assume that women should be happy after being a mother now. But things may be different within her. We had tried to spread awareness and resources to help a new mother.
The goal:
To design an app, which helps the new mother to take care of themselves. If they need they need professional help, they can easily reach out to professionals. They can build their community, chat, and get together with each other.
The Process
User-centered design:
This design framework puts the user first and center. The user-centered design considers the story of users, emotions, and pain points at its center of focus. It is possible by constant evaluation through listening, talking, and understanding users. The framework has four stages 1. Understand, 2. Specify, 3. Design, 4. Evaluate.
Empathize and Define
User 1
Problem Statement:
Maithili Agarwal is a new mother of a 2-month-old baby girl and a housewife who needs to take care of her emotional, mental, and physical health and seek help because she feels lonely, uncared, and mentally ill.
Hypothesis statement:
If Maithili gets access to this portal, then She can also get in contact with the community. She can get informative articles and tips to get herself emotionally, mentally, and physically fit.
User Story:
As a new mother of a 2-month-old baby girl, I seek some understanding, help, and awareness about my condition from family so that I can be mentally and emotionally fit and stable and take care of myself and my baby.
User 2
Problem Statement:
Priya Sharma is a mother of a 6-month-old baby boy and a working woman who needs help in chores and balance time between her work and baby because she wants to focus on her health and take care of baby and career.
Hypothesis statement:
If Priya starts to use this portal, then she can have various tips on health transformation. She can also get a tool to track her baby’s schedule to balance her routine.
User Story:
As a New mother of a 6-month-old baby boy and a working woman, I want some help in chores and need to balance time between my work and baby so that I can focus on my health and take care of my baby and career.
Painpoints:
Ideation
Competitive Analysis:
There is not much-renowned work done in India for this social segment. Because of that, I had to refer international organizations and government bodies for competitive audit research. A portion of the research work is presented here. Some research is done in an indirect way to empathize, define and ideate other than this.

Wireframe Ideation:
Ideation for screens is a bit challenging for this project. According to the requirement of the users, it needs everything upfront on a dashboard. After that screen still, all features should be upfront and easy to reach. Paper wireframe ideation is for the dashboard screen of the project.
Usability Research
A usability study was performed with an initial wireframe to potential users. It was conducted remotely in India. The usability study helped a lot as this project is part of Social Good, and users are a central element of this project. The process and details related to the usability study are present below.

Mockup Screens
The final finished design of this project is a bit challenging as it is a social good project. Here empathize with every stage is very important. Design should be user-centered to connect with the user. It is essential that the user feel inclusive and attached to the design.

Takeaways:
The Wellbeing app had designed for new mothers in mind. This project is for Social good and directly addresses users’ emotions and feelings. It was necessary that the user feels attached to the project.
For the usability study and empathize phase an inclusive, equitable approach was necessary. To take care of not compromising with the concept was the hard part. I had tried to get helpful tools and generate awareness among them and make them connected.
This initiative is necessary, especially in emerging countries with less awareness. Hope to work on this kind of humanitarian work.
Next Steps:
1. Iterate Design. Do the research and implement some new design ideas in practice to make it more navigable.
2. Change font style.
3. The need to conduct another usability research and gather some data and perspectives from users.
